9. HILL CLIMB TO ZAVIŽAN

We inform all interested mountainbiking fans that the 9th "Hillclimb to Zavizan 2011 from 0 to 1594 m" shall start on June 18th 2011, organized by MTB Club Senj, Senj Tourist Board, National Park Northern Velebit and Natural Park Velebit.

Depending on the physical fitness of the competitors, start No 1 is for the first time at 0 m in Senj and start No 2 in Oltari at 940 m. Track is abut 38 km long, beginning in downtown Senj, continuing by Adriatic road in southbound direction and turning left after 1 km to the hill Trbusnjak and climbing to the village Roncevic Dolac (6 km away from the start). This part of the track is paved with only a small intersection of unpaved road and is quite demanding. 10 km away from the start (1 km after the village Nekici) new track enters the old one which had started from Sveti Juraj and it continues in the direction of Oltari. This part of the track is unpaved and paved road starts only 2,5 km before Oltari. After Oltari track follows 250 m on a main road and then turns right to a paved road which leads to the National Park Northern Velebit enterance (about 7,5 km). Track through National park is unpaved (for about 9 km) and only last 650 m final climbing to the finish line at the Mountain refuge Zavizan is paved.

Event Schedule:
8,00 -9,45 a.m.: participants registration and fee payment (at Start No 1 in Senj)
9,50 a.m.: - Senj - formal opening of the race
10,00 a.m.: - Start No 1 - Senj (0 m , trail length 38 km)
9,00 - 10,15 a.m.: participants registration and fee payment (at Start no 2 in Oltari)
10,30 a.m.: - Start No 2 - Oltari (950 m ., trail length 17 km)
from 01,00: - lunch at mountain refuge Zavižan, formal promotion of winner ans prices award

Starting fee is:
80,00kn adults ( + 18 years)
50,00kn youth (-18 years)
Starting fee includes dedicated T-shirt, refreshment during the race, enterance fee to the National park, lunch (beans) at Zavizan.

Helmets are obligatory!

With respect of the weather conditions (mountain area) and landscape characteristics, participants are advised to take sunscreen cream and suitable jackets in case of rain and wind.
Organizers provide the presence of an ambulance and a physitian, hoping although for no reason.
Participants ride on their own responsibility and organizers refuse any liability for any damage a rider might cause to himself or anyone else. Participants younger then 15 years of age must have a written aproval of a parent.
